How much are dental implants for my 16 year old son?

He needs an implant and I wonder how much is reasonable to pay for this procedure. What to look for if any, and any suggestions. I live in South Florida.

Thanks in advance

How much are dental implants for my 16 year old son?
Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. The average cost if you include the East and West coast is about 3K. However, I find that most INs. DO NOT pay unless you can prove it was a real accident and have documents. THEN YOUR medical may pay for it. Call and find out.

I personally find this fee is too high for your area. I know my costs and it actually easier to do the restorative crown on an implant then a natural tooth. So I would ask the dentist to work with you or I will shop around. Most would rather take a little less then lose a case.

The Oral Surgeon can sink this in less than 15 minutes. So I would let him know you know this is a simple, daily procedure for him. If he says no, them ask for a name of another Surgeon that he knows does this daily. We do. I think 12-1500 is fair price.

The dentist who does the restorative simply screws in a hex-abutment and then takes several impressions. I feel again, 1000-1200. is more than fair. And I would say so. I'm in the NJ/NYC area and dentists here charge anywhere from 4-6K. It really upsets me because the high end guys are not fair. However, it keeps my practice very busy because my work is perfect and they lose the case to me. So let them over charge, it works for me. M
Reply:It depends where. I got one in the front and that was 3000 dollars without good insurance. check this site out http://www.aboutcosmeticdentistry.com/pr...
Reply:hi, there.

it is a good to hear that u r quite concern about ur son health.

for ur info, doing implant we should considering a few factors: age, suitability of bone such as the bone density, either maxilla bone or alveolar bone and so forth. but, in ur son situation, age is what we should be concern here. 16 y/old boy, he still is a growing kid. implant can't be done on him but u consider other option such as a bridge. there are several types of bridge.

about ur question on expenses that u may be paying for the implant. it's depends on where u are. in my country, the price of an implant is worth $15,000 compare to a bridge worth $ 9000.

it is good to try on the bridge for ur son and when he old enough, then he can consider an implant. (when he working, of course)
Reply:Hi. I am an Implant Dentist. The fee for an dental implant in such conditions can be very variable depending on certain conditions that only can be determined after a clinical and X-ray evaluation . For example, if your son lost his tooth in an accident, he may need aditional procedures as bone grafts, gum grafts, etc. And that may large modify the amount of money that you will pay for the procedure. You should see your dentist, to have your son evaluated, and only after that you can know for sure how much you will pay. If you don't like the estimate, you can consult somebody else to have another opinion. Where do you live?
