Are dental implants reliable and safe?

I am worried because they are so expensive and have heard stories of them continually falling out and lots of back-up surgery required. Any one have any first-hand knowledge?

Are dental implants reliable and safe?
Well it depends from the doctor who worked on implants!!!

And of course from the quality of implants!

My mom have that implants for over 6 years and she never had problems with them!!!
Reply:My old boss had them done and they hurt like hell and she said really weren't worth the constant pain.
Reply:mine fell out three times before i gave it up
Reply:Implants are safe, but it is far more preferable to keep your original teeth. Talk to your dental surgeon about options like GTR (Guided Tissue Replacement) or DFDBA. They are both reconstructive surgeries that would augment tissue and bone so you can sustain your original teeth with a crown.
Reply:Both my wife %26amp; I have dental implants (hers cosmetic), mine after a cycling accident...(about 10% of the club had implants!!)

I've had them for 16 years without any problems (except when I chipped one after another accident) - still as solid as day one. You just never forget that they are implants....

And yes, they are expensive!!
Reply:Implants are highly predictable and successful. Studies show up to a 98% success rate. That's better than root canal and a crown.
Reply:My front tooth is an implant, ive had it for 4 years without a single problem, cant tell it from the rest and most of the time i forget it's even an implant.
Reply:current research shows a success rate close to 95-98% very few medical procedures have that kind of overall success rate. of course nothing other than your natural tooth is permanent but the implants come very close
Reply:Get your full dental work and implants in India.Dental Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic/dental surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by the stinking NHS in UK

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star .

My cousin got her full dental work and jaw surgery for the cross bite and the overbite problem done there and she is more than very happy with the results.sHe is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. She paid just 30% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her.hope this helps.I think she paid only 7000$ for the full dental surgery for which she was quoted 22000 $ in USA.
