Do dental implants hurt much and what is involved please?

The first step involved is seeing if you have enough bone at the site. After a tooth is pulled the jawbone doesn't have any work to do, so it receeds. If there is inadequate bone, a graft might be done from your chin or thigh. Then you wait 3 months or for the bone to fuse. The fancy term for that is "osseointegration". Nice, eh? So now you have bone, and a screw is inserted into the bone which will hold the crown later. A "healing abutment" is placed over that - Not 100% sure but I think it's something that will help the gums heal naturally in a nice tooth-shape (the little U, you know?) and keep crud from getting in there. Then you wait 3-ish months for the bone to fuse around that. If it's in front, they have temporary crowns you can wear. Then impressions are taken for a crown, and snapped in place. Afterward, you floss it and brush it like a natural tooth. Painkillers for the oral surgery will be prescribed. Cost is between $2500-$4000 per tooth (excluding the beginning bone graft, I have no idea what THAT might cost). I can only guess about the pain. I suppose it's something like an extraction or something. Achy, sore, depressing.

yes
Reply:There is pain involved if you mean the ones implanted into your bone. Infection can be a problem too. If you need teeth replaced, check into fixed bridges.
Reply:I have a friend that has all implants in his lower jaw. He didn't mention about the pain. When I asked him about the cost of them he did say he could have bought a small house for what they cost...I would like to have them but they are out of my budget....
