Insurance plans such as Mark G has suggested are discount plans. Yes you save money, but you must go to a participating provider to receive the discount. Fees for specialist's only are discounted up to 20-25% off their normal fees. Contact Periodontists in your area and ask about their implant fees. See if they do consult at no charge to find out if you even are a candidate for an implant. What about a mini-implant? Would you qualify for one? (These are much less expensive) Also, contact your general dentist to find out how much their implant crowns cost. They are more expensive than a regular crown. Fees will vary by zip code so unless someone is in the same area that you are in, accurate ranges of cost is difficult to do. Overall though, a 3 unit bridge in your area costs about the same as a single implant and implant crown. If the teeth on either side of where you are thinking about having an implant, are healthy and otherwise need no restorations, go for the implant. Once again, contact local periodontal office and ask for a no charge implant consultation. If insurance covers implants at all, the majority only cover implant crowns, not the implant themselves. Many of the plans also give an alternative benefit of a regular PFM (porcelain fused to metal) crown.
Reply:I honestly do not know much about implants, but cost I could help you there and coverage. Check out this website.

I signed up with them online over 2 years ago for all my dentistry work. They have helped me save thousands of dollars from extractions, root canals, cleanings. I know for a fact that all services are included especially orthodontics, dental cosmetic surgery and dentures in the benefits. They had my membership active in 2 hours and was able to use the same day. I am very thankful that I found them. Check to see if they are in your area.

Good Luck. Hope this helps
Reply:Disadvantages: Expensive (once you consider the implant, the abutment, and the crown), Insurance doesn't cover them, you may not be a candidate for them (not everyone is).

Advantages: Permanent restoration, less expensive than a three-unit-bridge, an oral surgeon did mine.........
