I had 2 dental implants done yesterday. At first the periodontist told me that there would be 2 "screws" stick

sticking out and the next step would be to see my dentist to get the crown done in 10 weeks time. However after the surgery, he told me that for cosmetic reasons, he would let the gum heal over the screws, then he would place the post (I guess he means the part that would be sticking out, meaning of cos another round of local anesthesia) in a few weeks time.

My questions are: Is that the normal procedure? How long is it usually before the crowning is done?

You had the procedure that will create some sensitivity from time to time. Mine feels like something is crawling under the skin. But the important thing is the real look.

I will tell you this; your doctor really should have explained everything that would be done. I was allowed to see everything that would be used. I was even shown a video and a few pictures. This is your right. There should never be any surprises.
Reply:my husband just had an implant procedure. the total process took him over 6 months
Reply:yes.implants take alot of time...due to healing and bone formation around the implant take time...the whole procedure may take up to a year
Reply:It is expensive and time consuming........but dentist knows best. I have had 3 implants.....well worth the trouble and money.
