Dental Implants & Gums?

When you get an implant, do the gums "grow" around it ... like with regular teeth?

Dental Implants %26amp; Gums?
I'm sure they accustom to them yes
Reply:yeah its metal and they stick it in your gums, you have to give it a couple weeks for your gums to heal around it and then they screw a tooth into the implant
Reply:i don't know but i am planning on getting dental implants cause they looks so cute ....
Reply:No they dont but the teeth look nice if you get a good dentist that matches them up well. As you get older the gums recede and there is a blackish line showing between the tooth and the gum.It is a much better method than false teeth and after the first week where the crown feels heavy you will not know the difference between the real tooth and a crown. Make sure the dentist puts in a very good quality glue to hld it down because I know someone whose dentist (a) did it without the posts (bad idea because the teeth arent firm and the crown keeps coming off and (b) and secondly didnt use good quality glue to hold the teeth down firmly for years on end.
