Reply:Dental implants are dental implants, no matter who the patient is.

Implants replace a missing tooth.

Veneers or caps partially cover an existing tooth for the purpose of changing the shape or color of the tooth. Many veneers are done for cosmetic reasons.

This kind of dentistry is not just done on famous people - regular, everyday folks get caps, veneers, and implants all the time.

Edited to add: "hcbb" has only a few posts on Yahoo! and all seem to be promoting 3rd World medical/dental procedures. I would first of all be cautious of anyone who stands to gain financially from their answers and secondly be very careful about receiving care outside of their own country.

Keep in mind, if anything goes wrong with your procedure, you would have to return to India, Mexico, or some other place to have it fixed. Your home dentist is under NO obligation to repair shoddy work done overseas. Oversight of things like cleanliness and malpractice are not as strict as in developed nations. What seems like a big savings in the short term may cost dearly in the long term.
Reply:TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION:

Dental implants have been around in various forms for centuries. Only in the last thirty years, however, have they come to provide reliable replacements for natural teeth.

In the mid sixties a surgeon by the name of Branemark accidentally discovered that titanium cylinders placed gently into bone and then left undisturbed for three months could actually bond to the bone. While discussing this finding with some dentist friends they decided to see if titanium cylinders could be used as replacement teeth. Initial experiments were done in dogs. The implants were placed in the jaw of the dog using a very gentle technique and then allowed to rest in the jaw for three months. When the implants were exposed, a hook was attached and they were able to lift the dog completely off of the ground. Although, today, this seems cruel to us, it clearly demonstrated that the titanium cylinders could bond to bone and withstand substantial forces.

Since that time hundreds of thousands of dental implants have been placed in the mouths of people who were tired of floppy removable replacement teeth. Research has been conducted all over the world at numerous dental facilities. The success rates have been between 90 to 97% over the last thirty years.

Put simply a dental implant is a titanium cylinder with threads or a rough surface which is gently placed in the jaw of an individual. Titanium is a bioactive metal which, when undisturbed, is able to trick the body into believing that it is a tooth. The body therefore bonds directly to the implant surface with a bond that is even stronger than to natural teeth.

Crowns or attachments are placed on the implant and screwed into place with retaining screws which thread into the top of the implant.

Reply:I think you might have heard it as Prosthetic Dentistry. It is the restoration or replacement of tooth.

Dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement. There are many types. The most commonly used one is the osseointegrated implant. The material is Titanium. There are several manufacturers of this implant.

Typically dental implants require three stages. (a) First stage: To evaluate whether you are the candidate for the dental implant - the doctor will look at your dental x-rays, bone strength, etc to decide. If you are the candidate, then dental implant is placed. (b) Second stage: To uncover the dental implant and place abutment and temporary crown (c) Third stage: Permanent crown. From 1st stage to 3rd stage, the process takes around 3 to 4 months.

The dental implants are expensive in UK / USA (typically $3500 per tooth) and is not covered in many insurances. Many people go to other countries like India, Mexico, Thailand for their dental implants. The implant cost savings are 50% to 80%. There are companies like healthbase (www.healthbase.com) arranges all the necessary booking with the hospitals, travel, accommodation and even sight-seeing. Healthbase works with internationally accredited hospitals (like JCI / JCAHO / ISO accredited) and doctors who have trained in USA / UK. Their website has cost estimates (free quote) and detailed profiles about the hospitals, doctors and medical procedures. Healthbase website also has information about medical procedures, medical tourism, dental tourism, cost comparison and much more.
Reply:They are not implants. Implants are titanium screws that are placed in the jaw bone and then a fake tooth is attatched to it. This is done to replace a tooth or teeth that are missing. What the majority of the stars have are veneers. This is just like a custom fitted cover or blanket over the teeth that makes them straight and white. Only a small portion of the tooth is shaved down usually and then the veneer placed over top of the tooth. Its not like a crown which covers the entire tooth.

What is the best way of cleaning dental implants?

Brushing and flossing doesn't prevent the denture tast.

What is the best way of cleaning dental implants?
I like to hear that you are brushing and flossing, but you might care to try using a WaterPik

http://www.waterpik.com/oral-health-prod...

with some mouthrinse mixed with water to flush out all of the areas around the implants you have. You need to use the Pik on a lower pressure setting as not to traumatize the tissue by forcing the fluid into the area at the gum margin. You can also use a proxybrush

http://www.just4teeth.com/Products-Brand...

Just make sure that the wire of the proxybrush is coated with plastic so it doesn't scratch the implant.

Hope that helps!

Where is the best place to get dental implants at a reasonable cost ? India, Japan, South America ?
THE PHILIPPINES IS THE CHEAPEST.

MANILA , PHILIPPINES
Reply:Dental Implants are very expensive, no matter where you go. I would stay as far away from dental implants as possible, and go with some other alternative. I had dental implants put in, and almost died of Sepsis. My dentist, that is no longer my dentist, put blade implants in my mouth, and they were not only put in crooked, they were not approved by the FDA, and they rusted into my jawbone. I ended up with Sepsis, which is a blood infection, and came within hours of dying. I've had 4 surgeries to try to correct the problem, but now found out I need more, because I'm losing bone. Bone pain, is excrutiating. Please try to go with a different option! If you decide you still want implants, then make sure you do some research, and find the right dentist to perform the surgery. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Reply:There are good implantologists anywhere in the world it's only a question of what you consider a reasonable price. I'm from the Philippines and the range of implant fees here range from $150 to $300 per implant depemding on the type of implant athe the implantologist placing the implant. This presumes that the oral situation is implant ready meaning that there is the right amount of bone in the areas where the implants have to be placed. There are some cases where pre-implant procedures may have to be accomplished first prior to implant placement.

Reply:Dental Implants are long-term replacements are surgically placed in the jawbone. Whereas, removable dentures or fixed bridges are not considered as a long-term solution like dental implants. More and more people are considering dental implants as their the best treatment option for replacing missing teeth.

Since most of the insurances do not cover dental implants, many people are planning overseas travel to places like India, Mexico, Thailand and Singapore for their teeth implants It is very cheaper while comparing in US. For example a metal-free dental bridge worth $5,500 in the U.S. costs $500 in India.

How long do you have too be toothless if you get dental implants?

How do you eat for the time the jawbone heals from the point of the extraction of the tooth until the place the implant? It is for the upper back row of teeth on both sides! oh and can you do both sides at the same time, the whole thing in one go?

How long do you have too be toothless if you get dental implants?
depends on what implant? Some implants can be inserted immediately after tooth extraction others after the socket heals about 3 months.
Reply:Generally, when teeth are extracted the jawbone will shrink significantly, so much so that the thickness of bone upon final healing may be insufficient to house an implant. Bone around teeth (alveolar bone) only exists for the sake of the teeth. If you were considering implants you should have discussed bone grafting into the tooth extraction sites at the time of each extraction before any teeth were pulled. This will increase the cost of the final outcome and is necessary for maximum success.

The upper back teeth are usually associated with an anatomical structure called the maxillary sinus. When these teeth are extracted the sinus, which is an air sack, expands to fill the entire tooth socket to within paper thickness of the healed gum. It is nice to have 10 mm of bone to place an implant into, if you can get it, not paper thin bone. This can be remedied with proper planning. A surgical procedure called a "sinus lift" will lift the sinus lining and into the space created by the lift bone graft is placed. The sinus lining is left to rest on the mound of graft material. Over several months the graft will become vascularized and hard enough to be drilled into and an implant placed into it. During those healing months your dentist can make you a temporary (throw away) denture. It is usually made in advance of implant surgery and placed immediately upon completion of that surgery. The number of implants placed at one time is cost as well as dentist determined.
Reply:Hi,

In general it is left for 6 months before implants are placed.

Yes you can do both sides at the same time and the procedure is usually done under local anaesthetic.

If necessary a denture will made to fill the gaps in the meantime.

You will need to also wear the denture during the healing period after the implants are placed.

Who ' s got the best deal for " DENTAL IMPLANTS ? " My mouth is a mess !?
Deal? For gods sakes don't cut corners with dental implants. the best deal is to have them last a very long time indeed. Straumann and Nobel biocare implants have the best success rates but are not cheap!

Sometimes the best 'deal' is to have fewer implants placed and have a denture clipped into them.....it works amazingly well as the denture looks great, it never comes out (except to clean) and keeps the cost down.

Good luck!

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. Well, I'm just guessing but implants are when they put posts into the bone and then screw "teeth" onto them. So a non-surgical dental implant could be a set of dentures.

Can I get my dental insurance or medical insurance to pay for dental implants?

The dental insurance either pays for them or they don't. It has more to do with the plan your company selected and not the insurance itself ( I'm sure the insurance company has plans that cover implants, but your company didn't subscribe to it) Do you have flex spending with your job?. Implant's the best way to go. It's worth saving for.

Can I get my dental insurance or medical insurance to pay for dental implants?
I've had a few dental implants over the last few years and I have yet to find any dental insurance companies that will cover the procedure. The main reason is that the procedure is expensive. Being a Federal employee I have my choice of many quality insurance plans both general medical and several dental plans and not one covers dental implants. The best I could do was to set up a medical savings account so that I used tax deferred funds to cover them.
Reply:It would be hard to find an insurance company or plan that covers dental implants, that too when your dentist recommends it as a necessary treatment. Otherwise the most comfortable would be looking for dental treatment abroad. You may search for dental implants, hotel stay and tour package in India or Thailand or Dubai.
Reply:Yes it is possible but it will take alot of letter writing and serious documentation. You'll need every piece of information about the accident and the damage it caused. Also you'll need to be very friendly with your doctor and dentist because they'll need to write narratives also. Start by having the dentist submit a preautheration to your medical company with a narrative stating the implant is needed due to an accident. He/she will need the medical 9 digit medical code for the implant. An oral surgeon may be more familiar with medical insurance than a regular dentist.

What are the bad points about dental implants?

GOOD POINTS: BEST PROSTHESIS AROUND AND ARE VERY STRONG

BAD POINTS: EXPENSIVE, IN THE FRONT AREA THEY CAN MAKE YOUR GUM A BLUISH COLOR BECAUSE THE METAL SHINES THROUGH, YOU MUST NOT BE A SMOKER OR A DIABETIC, YOU MUST HAVE GOOD BONE AROUND THE AREA FOR THE IMPLANT, CAN ONLY BE DONE IN ADULT PATIENTS WHO HAVE STOPPED GROWING

What are the bad points about dental implants?
I'm a dentist.

Cost, cost, and cost. That's it. They are by far the best prosthetic solution in virtually every case where a patient is a good candidate for them (i.e. good health, reasonable hygien practices, good bone, etc.).

The only "bad point" about implants is that not everybody is a good candidate for them.

Are there negative health effects of dental implants?

This is something you should discuss with your dentist. However, outside the normal risks of surgery and post-operative complications from implant placement, there are no negative health affects due to the presence of the implant in your tissue. In other words, you won't go cross-eyed or become anemic or develop chronic fatige syndrome etc from the implant.

Are there negative health effects of dental implants?
Current dental implants are made of titanium alloy which is well tolerated by most patients. As an oral surgeon who places dental implants for years, I have not encounted one patient who is allergic to it. However, just like any implant, there are complications associated with placement and use of dental implants. There are complications associated with the surgery to place the implants, the surgery to add bone to the jaw if the bone is not sufficient to place an implant, and the complications associated with the prothesis. In general, the negative health effects associated with dental implant use, once it is successful placed and restored with prosthetic crown, is less than one's own teeth. There is no known immunological negative effects. Implants could not get cavity, but they could have inflammation of the surrounding gum similar to gingivitis. Also, bone lost could happen around an implant, which is similar to periodontistis. Only a dentist who is good with implants and has examined you could advice you of your own particular risks/benefits associated with implants.

What is the general cost of dental implants to replace upper dentures?

There are different types of dental implants. On type is individual tooth replacement. This costs approx. $2,000/tooth.

I think the implants you're referring to are when you have your dentures "implanted".

These implants are generally used on patients with severely resorbed ridges and only when no other options exist.

In my area it costs approx. $4,000 to $6,000 per denture.

What is the general cost of dental implants to replace upper dentures?
I had ONE implant, mind you by the time they realized I needed an implant (after doing a root canal on the wrong tooth and months of infection brewing), I also needed bone grafting, so my total was around $10, 000!!! for one tooth. Of course, this was in FL, where, IMO, prices are inflated, my case was complicated, had to be completed in VA and as I said I needed the bone grafting surgery as well. I think as time goes on, the prices may lower, hopefully.
Reply:Not more than $1500 for upper full denture supported on two ball type implants.

Many dentists in Thailand are graduated and well trained in European Countries and US. Many of them are American Board in their specialise area. The hospitals and clinics are International Standard. You may find the reference as shown in CBS TV'60 minutes and in Time Magazine (www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/21/60mi... The hotel price are varied from USD 15 up... and you can pay only USD1.50 per one meal (not in big restaurant). The airfare is reasonable if you find a good travel agency. Is it now possible to have dental implants for a space with very low bone density? Tricky, expensive, risky?

We do bone grafts using both human or cow bone for patients who lack enough bone to support the implant. Implants have a very high success rate. Bone grafts are safe and effective. Implants are a great option because they keep the teeth next to the extraction site intact. With a bridge you have to prep the teeth on either side. They can be expensive but Implants never get tooth decay, never feel hot and cold. The bone take time to integrate 3-6 months but will be solid enough to support your implant. The are innovative and a positive steps for the future of Dentistry. We do both implants and bridges in our office. I would put an implant over a bridge in my own mouth any day. Do not be afraid to get a second opinion. Ask your periodontist or dentist to see pictures of their work. Ask questions. You can visit websites of Nobel Bio care or 3i implants for further options and questions in regard to the implant process.

Good luck! Take your time to make an informed decision that suits you the best. Congratulations to your dentist for being up to date with the implants as a great alternative to a bridge.

Is it now possible to have dental implants for a space with very low bone density? Tricky, expensive, risky?
Have you seen an oral surgeon or periodontist for a Bone graft ? With low bone density, the likelyhood that the implant will fail is very high. Your dentist shouldnt do one if you do have low bone density or if you have severe bone loss.
Reply:HELLO,

THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPE OF IMPLANTS MADE FOR DIFFERENT SITUATIONS, NO TWO ARE EXACTLY ALIKE. THE BEST THING TO D IS ASK YOUR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS FROM A PERIODONTIST OF ORAL SURGEON WHO PLACES IMPLANTS.
Reply:A bridge is not always a second best option. If your teeth on either side of the gap are extensively repaired, the bridge is not such a bad option. Bone sugar can also be used to encourage bone to grow but it will take longer for sufficiant bone to form

keep in mind though that asking for a discount on an implant is like asking for a discount on a mercedes. it's a premium service so there is a premium price. partial dentures are the way to go if you need a cheaper road.

Can you tell if someone has dental implants?

Nope.

Only time you can tell is when it stains to a different color than your normal teeth.

Can you tell if someone has dental implants?
You're not supposed to, but sometimes the tooth is a different color. Whoever's doing the implant will match the tooth as closely as possible so it's up to the patient to keep their teeth the color of the implant.
Reply:I have one and nope you can't tell. The only problem is that I can't get my teeth bleached very white like it's popular to do these days because my implant will allways stay the same color of slightly off white - the color of teeth before the whitening phenomenon :(

If you're thinking of getting one and you want to have very white teeth like half the rest of the western world. Get your teeth whitened a couple of times FIRST - then get the implant to match the level of whiteness you choose to keep your teeth at.
Reply:It depends on the quality of the crown placed on the implant and the quality of your gums. If you are really concerned about these things, make an appointment with a periodontist to have the implant placed and an aesthetic dentist who works closely with his lab technician.

Are there dentists that will do dental implants at a n affordable rate?

If you live in an area with a Univ. with a dentistry program many offer reduced rates as students do the work. They are supervised of course. I know a couple who get all their dental work done this way as they have no insurance coverage. They swear by it...not so brave myself. It might be an avenue you could try.

Are there dentists that will do dental implants at a n affordable rate?
I second a dental school. However the thing about implants is you must do your homework. Yes implants are expensive but they are an exact science. Be careful who you choose. The dental professional must be skilled at placing implants or be under supervision of a teacher who is skilled at placing implants.

I did not go to a dental school but have a very good friend who is a Prosthodontist professor at a University and teaches placement of implants as well as doing them herself.

How much do bone graphs for dental implants cost?

Get your full dental work and implant surgery in India.Dental Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic/dental surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star .

My cousin got her full dental work and jaw surgery for the cross bite and the overbite problem done there and she is more than very happy with the results.sHe is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. She paid just 30% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her.hope this helps.I think she paid only 7000$ for the full dental surgery for which she was quoted 19000 $ in USA.

Depends on the doctor %26amp; where you live.

P.S. It's spelled "grafts"
Reply:it does actually vary to location but the person you need a consult with is most likely the periodontist or oral surgeon. check with your dentist to see if you are a candidate and ask for a referral

the grafts are considerably less than the implants and the crowns to go on the implants

I must replace several teeth. Are dental implants the way to go?

4 top molars and 3 bottom teeth

I must replace several teeth. Are dental implants the way to go?
Yes but only if you have enough bone support, a periodontist or oral surgeon can make that determination from your dental x-rays. They are more pricey and take longer from start to finish. The big plus is that it does not involve the destruction of other teeth for replacement. I've been a surgical dental asst. for 30 yrs. and if I had to loose a tooth, I would opp for an implant no matter what the cost. Most good DDS offer payment plans.
Reply:It's up to the individual on if implants or partials are best. It all depends on the person. I know implants are alot more costly to have inserted and maintained and the process of insertion is more lengthy and complicated. Plus, if you are a smoker, they will not do them at all.
Reply:Painful and expensive, but they look good.
Reply:no.

A titanium dental implant is usually made out of an alloy of this metal along with several other metals blended together. The most common alloy used has a ratio of 90 parts titanium, 6 parts aluminum and 4 parts vanadium

titanium implants are putting metal and a high milliamperage close to the brain. i have seen a woman who measured nearly 400 milliamps positive charge, and 30 neg charge who had three in her mouth; she paid $9,000 for them. the dr said she could have ran a stereo off her teeth. we removed them. our body runs on electrical impulses, so this can disrupt them (and brain waves). also, dentists and drs will tell you that bone grows to titanium implants. well, it will grow around it. but, it is a foreign object and the body will build up antibodies to it. over time, it will pull away from the bone and can become loose. if you will notice, they say implants last about 15 years or so. they are working on an implant made of diamond, supposed to be available in 5 yrs. but, it will still be a foreign object and pull away from the bone.

I do not have enough tissue in my gum area to cover the surgical site. Tissue may be used from underneath the tongue to create the flap. The surgical site needs to be covered for at least four months. There will be a scar in front of my lower teeth and this should not bother me. If you lose sensation because of nerve damage, your muscle tone you should not be affected. You will have 1-2" along the inside of my lower jaw and chin. The area may tingle and burn, but apparently You can get used to this? Also, the surgical sites may open up and need to be addressed with antibiotics, drainage, etc. This block of bone would be held in place with small titanium screws. It will take approx. 6 months to 1 year for these grafts to heal and integrate into your jawbone and the surgical sites will be kept covered with my tissue Place 2 more implants and have all 3 implants functioning separately. It will take approx. 6 months to 1 year for the implants to integrate into my jawbone. Crown all 3 implants separately. Keep yourself strong and healthy and hope that it works for a very long time. 2.7.6. Titanium

It is generally accepted that pure titanium is extremely well tolerated by local tissues and induces neither toxic nor inflammatory reactions (Branemark et al. 1969, Toth et al. 1985, Linder et al. 1988, Pfeiffer et al. 1994). The normal tissue concentration of titanium in humans is 0.2 ppm. Around the titanium implants no clinical tissue toxicity has been observed even at local concentrations higher than 2000 ppm (Hildebrand et al. 1998). In optimal situations, titanium is able to osseointegrate with bone, thus forming a direct contact with bone at the light microscopy level (Branemark et al. 1969). The good bone contact may be due to the ability of titanium to form a Ca-P rich layer on its surface (Hanawa 1991). Titanium is bacteriostatic (Elagli et al. 1992) and does not significantly activate or inhibit different enzyme systems specific to toxic reactions, e.g. β - glucuronidase, lactate dehydrogenase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and acid phosphatase (Elagli et al. 1995). The good biocompatibility and corrosion resistance are due to the naturally forming stable titanium oxide (TiO2) film on titanium surfaces (Zitter et al. 1987, Kasemo et al. 1991).

Particles from titanium arise from the passivation layer of the implant, but they are not titanium ions, but mostly insoluble titanium oxides or suboxides, which are recognized to be biologically inert. Indeed, the passivation layer is immediately reformed after abrasion because of the high oxidizability of titanium. This behavior protects the alloy and prevents the formation of chemical compounds other than oxides (Hildebrand et al. 1998). Tissue discoloration due to titanium oxide particles is sometimes seen around pure titanium implants, but this seems to have no clinical consequences (Onodera et al. 1993, Rosenberg et al. 1993). Experiments with laboratory animals and some limited analyses of human tissues have also revealed evidence of titanium release into distant tissues (Schliephake et al. 1993, Jorgenson et al. 1997).

Wear particles produced by abrasion appear especially in the vicinity of articular prostheses and implants with certain mobility, e.g. uncemented total hip replacements. These particles may induce multiple tissue reactions, including osteolysis, degradation of normal bone structure, severe macrophagic reactions, granuloma, fibrotic capsules and chronic inflammation, which may cause destabilization and loosening of prostheses and implants (Santavirta et al. 1991, Santavirta et al. 1993, Rubash et al. 1998). Particle size and composition are of essential importance in that process. Deleterious reactions have been reported with Ti-6Al-4V based prostheses (Nasser et al. 1990, Rubash et al. 1998), but not with pure titanium implants.

In vitro, pure titanium particles have also been shown to have some effects on cells. Low concentrations may stimulate fibroblast proliferation, while high concentrations may be toxic. At high particle concentrations, titanium caused a decrease in proteolytic and collagenolytic activity in the culture medium. Titanium also elevated the lysosomal enzyme marker, hexosaminidase, except at high concentrations (Maloney et al. 1993).

Metal ion levels after metal-on-metal proximal femoral replacements: a 30-year follow-up.

[My paper] E Dunstan , A P Sanghrajka , S Tilley , P Unwin , G Blunn , S R Cannon , T W R Briggs

Metal-on-metal hip bearings are being implanted into younger patients. The consequence of elevated levels of potentially carcinogenic metal ions is therefore a cause for concern. We have determined the levels of cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), titanium (Ti) and vanadium (Va) in the urine and whole blood of patients who had had metal-on-metal and metal-on-polyethylene articulations in situ for more than 30 years. We compared these with each other and with the levels for a control group of subjects. We found significantly elevated levels of whole blood Ti, Va and urinary Cr in all arthroplasty groups. The whole blood and urine levels of Co were grossly elevated, by a factor of 50 and 300 times respectively in patients with loose metal-on-metal articulations when compared with the control group. Stable metal-on-metal articulations showed much lower levels. Elevated levels of whole blood or urinary Co may be useful in identifying metal-on-metal articulations which are loose.

Zirconium dioxide implants are supposed to be the wave of the future. They are still putting a foreign body into the jaw and the immune system will launch an immune response, so they will still loosen over time (15 to 20 years) from that. Granted, it appears to be better than titanium and they are saying it is a substitute for metal implants, but with the immune response, it isn't worth it to me.

Properties

The German chemist M. H. Klaproth discovered zirconium dioxide in 1789 although this "miracle material" with its outstanding properties has only been re-discovered in the last few decades. For instance, various types of zirconium dioxide have been introduced to dentistry as a substitute for metal. This material is attractive because of its extraordinary properties such as high flexural strength (in excess of 1,000 MPa), hardness (1,200 – 1,400 Vickers) and Weibull modulus (10-12). Yttrium partially stabilises zirconium oxide to provide these positive properties. Adding aluminium oxide boosts the flexural strength of the zirconium dioxide alloy once again. Zirconium dioxide is used for manufacturing kitchen knives, industrial cutting tools and components under great thermomechanic stress in the automobile and aircraft industry. However, it is not only very strong, it is also biocompatible so that zirconium dioxide is also used in medicine (hearing devices and artificial fingers and hips) and dentistry (pins, crowns, bridges and implants). The fact that zirconium dioxide has the same colour as teeth along with its biotechnical characteristics mean it is used for manufacturing biocompatible, high-quality and aesthetic tooth and implant reconstructions. There have only been animal experiments and laboratory examinations on applying dental zirconium oxide implants to date, meaning no long-term data exists on the clinical application of these implants.

Manufacturing Zirconium Dioxide

The mineral zirconium (ZrSiO4) is the main raw material for zirconium dioxide while melting it with coke and lime (reducing the SiO2) produces ZrO2 for industrial uses. Since extremely pure constituents have to be used for producing high-performance ceramics, special ways to synthesise it have been developed for high-purity ZrO2. This includes production with reactions in molten salts, reactions in the gaseous phase, hydrothermal powder synthesis and the sol-gel process. Gaseous phase and sol-gel process production provides powder at very small particle sizes ranging from 0.01 to 0.10 µm. This powder is then mixed with additives to create what are known as green bodies with film casting, slip casting or drying pressing. We distinguish additives such as sintering additives (that have a specific effect on the sintering behaviour and the properties of finished ceramics) and auxiliary materials that facilitate shaping. While the sintering additives stay in the ceramics, all residues of the auxiliary materials (mostly slightly volatile organic compounds along with water) are removed from the moulded component before the sintering process. The green body is passed into the raw product by sintering and ground or polished depending upon use. The sintering process can be carried out at atmospheric pressure and under high pressure and it is only with the sintering process that the moulded components receive their actual properties. The ceramic powder particles are compressed by lowering the specific surface with temperature-dependant diffusion processes with alternating components of surface, particle size grading and volume diffusion. If solid body diffusion is too slow, sintering can also be carried out with a liquid phase or under pressure, the latter being called hot pressing or hot isostatic pressing (the HIP process). The velocity of solid body diffusion can be boosted with the right selection of sintering additives. A great deal of research needs to be done here since the high sintering temperatures (in excess of 1,200° C) and manufacturing under pressure causes production costs for ceramic components to shoot up. Along with providing systematic clarification of the impact that additives have on the sintering process, there are also attempts to enhance power transmission onto ceramic components by coupling in microwaves for lowering sintering temperatures.

ZrO2 Ceramics

The properties of ZrO2 ceramics substantially pivot on the chemical composition of the material and the manufacturing process. We distinguish fully stabilised ZrO2 (FSZ „fully stabilized zirconia“) and partially stabilised ZrO2 (PSZ „partially stabilized zirconia“). It can be partially stabilised by adding 3-6% CaO, MgO or Y2O3 and depending upon the conditions of manufacturing this stabilises the cubic, tetragonal or monocline modification. Partially stabilised ZrO2 demonstrates high thermal fatigue resistance, meaning it fills the bill for use as high-temperature mechanoceramics. Adding 10-15% CaO, MgO or Y2O3 also allows cubic modification of the zirconium dioxide from absolute zero to the solidus (FSZ) and the ceramic material is thermally and mechanically stable to a temperature of 2,600°. However, its low caloric conductivity and higher thermal expansion factor as compared with partially stabilised ZrO2 mean that the thermal fatigue resistance of the fully stabilised zirconium dioxide is lower. The zirconium dioxide that is suited to use as an implant has the following composition: 95% ZrO2 + 5% Y2O3.

Do some people have discomfort from dental implants, once they have healed and not rejected?

Do they cause pain or sensetivity to hot or cold?

Do some people have discomfort from dental implants, once they have healed and not rejected?
Dental implants after the initial phase of osseo intergation will not move unless quite a heavy force is exerted on them.No they dont have sensitivity. If done correctly should last for life. Most people don't have discomfort, only smokers are prone towards failure in the healing stages.

Good Luck

What is synthetic bone used for dental implants composed of?

Bone graft material can be composed of a few different things, the most common are:

-Your own bone, harvested from a different site

-Ceramic granules

-Bovine (cow) bone

-Human cadaver bone

What is synthetic bone used for dental implants composed of?
Sometimes porcelain, otherwise IDK.
Reply:sea weeds or cadaver bone i guess?
Reply:Implants are normally titanium screws placed into your own bone tissue. The bone grows around the screw and it becomes integrated into your jaw.

In some patients, there is not enough bone tissue to support the implant. In those cases, a bone graft using bone tissue from your own body is used to enhance the area.
Reply:BONE GRAFTING USING BONE MATERIAL CAN BE EITHER SYNTHETIC (HYDROXYAPATITE) OR FROM STERILIZED CADAVER BONE.

Can anyone tell me about dental implants?

How much do they cost, how are they permanently affixed, do they hurt when they are inserted, any other details I should know about? I might get one of them.

Can anyone tell me about dental implants?
Dental implants vary tremendously in cost depending upon how many you will need. Some of the answers here are wrong - very wrong. A dental implant is better for your jaw bone and your own dental health because once the implant is properly seated in the bone it will stimulate your bone to grow just as your normal teeth stimulate the bone to grow.

I would guess you have seen little old men and or ladies who have almost now lower jaw and no teeth. The jaw actual stopped growing new bone tissue because of the lack of stimulation for having teeth anchored to the jaw bone.

Here is how they should work. You should have a CAT scan done of your upper and lower jaw. Depending upon where the implant is to be placed. The dentist may want to make a surgical guide that will allow him to drill at the exact angle that is needed to the base of the implant is screwed into the correct type of bone. This is critical because there are different types of bone density in your jaw and you want your implant seated in the bone with the greatest density. Once the implant is placed in your jaw bone he may or may not depending upon the opinion of the dentist attache the final prosthetic onto the implant. The prosthetic is what looks like a normal tooth. Bingo - you are done.

Summary Cost is variable, they do not hurt when inserted. Dental implants are the best way to go for long lasting dental health
Reply:Not impartial, an original answerer, but wondering how this was thorough. He only answered the part he knew about. Didn't address your concerns over permanently affixed, does it hurt, more details you should know. Made it sound like one easy appt. Bingo-you're done, he says. Ha Report It

Reply:Greetings!

They drill into the jaw and epoxy in a titanium post. Then they take an enamized tooth which has mechanisim which lets it snap onto the post.

This is so it can be easily replaced if broken. The post is somewhat permanent, but can be removed.

You will be sore for a few hours.

Depending on the Dentist it goes for 650 to1500 per tooth.

Good Luck
Reply:I'm not sure if there is an option to epoxy the post in as your previous answer said. That sounds wrong to me. I will focus on the personal pain and healing aspects you asked about because I can't answer scientifically. But I had an implant several years ago and for me it was a surgery to place the post into the jaw bone, followed by a few months of recovery to allow the jaw bone to grow around the implant, thus making it a permanent part of your jaw. During that time I wore a fake tooth in the open space. (There were also stitches of my gum that needed to heal) After the healing period, several office visits were involved. First, impressions were taken of the area. This is a little uncomfortable because they have to make sure to get down into the gum as well as the exposed area. Then a crown was created and cemented onto a screw, called an abutment, which attaches to the implant in the jaw. I have had to have both my abutment and crown replaced since the original surgery. The implant (post in the jawbone) is permanent though and looks weird on x-ray! Just remember, that no one who hasn't had one inserted can tell you ablut the personal experience and what hurts. They only tell you procedure. Surgery hurts, probing into the area for impressions and abutment attachment is uncomfortable and does cause bleeding. Cementing the crown into place doesn't hurt. Also. I have had some gum loss/pocketing form around the implant. Apparently that is a common problem with them and can result in bone loss and failure of the implant if its not taken care of. So proper cleaning and examination is necessary for a lifetime. (It always was though, right?)
Reply:Implants are devices that replace the roots of missing teeth, and are used to support crowns, bridges or dentures. Implants are placed in your jawbone surgically. Most of the time, implants feel more natural and secure than other methods of replacing missing teeth, such as dentures.

There are many reasons why it's important to replace missing teeth:

-Having all of your teeth can make you more self-confident. You don't worry that people notice that you have teeth missing.

-When teeth are lost, the area of the jawbone that held those teeth starts to erode. Over time, you can lose so much bone that your jaw will need a bone graft to build up the bone in your jaw before your dentist can place implants or make a denture that fits properly.

-Tooth loss affects how well you chew and what foods you are able to eat. Many people who have missing teeth have poor nutrition, which can affect overall health.

-The loss of teeth can change your bite, that is the way your teeth come together. Changes in your bite can lead to problems with your jaw joint, called the temporomandibular joint.

-Losing teeth can lead to changes in your speech, which also can affect your self-confidence.

There are several types of implants, including root form, blade form, Ramus frame and subperiosteal implants.

Root-form implants are the most common type used today. A root-form implant looks like a small cylinder or screw and is made of titanium. After an implant is placed in the jawbone, a metal collar called an abutment eventually is attached to it. The abutment serves as a base for a crown, denture or bridge.

The key to the success of all implants is a process called osseointegration, in which the bone in the jaw bonds with the implant. Titanium is a special material that the jawbone accepts as part of the body.

The ability of titanium to fuse with bone was discovered accidentally. In 1952, a scientist named Per-Ingvar Brånemark was using titanium chambers screwed into bones as part of his research to discover how bone healed after an injury. When he tried to remove the titanium chambers, he found they had become bonded to the bone.

This discovery led Dr. Brånemark to do further research into how titanium implants might work. In 1965, the first root-form implants were placed in people. Other types of implants also have been used for the past 30 to 40 years. There are many implant systems available, made by various dental manufacturers.

Success

Available studies indicate that surgical placement of root-form implants is successful more than 90% of the time. When these implants fail, the problems usually occur within the first year after surgery. After that, only about 1% of all implants fail each year.

Implants have become increasingly popular since the American Dental Association (ADA) endorsed them in 1986. Between 1986 and 1999, the number of implant procedures tripled. An ADA survey found that the average number of implants placed by a dentist who does the procedure was 56 per year in 1999, compared with 18 in 1986. According to the survey, in 1999, 90% of oral surgeons, 68% of periodontists, 10% of prosthodontists and 8% of general dentists had performed implant procedures.

It is now estimated that between 300,000 and 400,000 implants are placed every year in the United States.

Implants Versus Alternatives

Depending on your particular problem, implants can be more expensive than the alternatives (denture or bridge). An implant plus a crown costs between $1,500 and $4,000. The fees will depend on many factors. Insurance companies generally do not cover this cost, although you should always check with your insurer.

While the upfront cost for implants can be more than for other types of restorations, the investment can pay off in the long run. You do not necessarily need an implant for every missing tooth. Your dentist can discuss how many implants you will need.

Other benefits of implants include:

Feel — Because implants are imbedded in your bone, they feel more like your natural teeth than bridges or dentures.

Convenience — You will not need to worry about denture adhesives or having your dentures slip, click or fall out when you speak.

Nutrition — You will be able to chew better with implants. Chewing can be difficult with regular dentures, especially ones that don't fit perfectly. A regular upper denture also covers your palate, which can reduce your sense of taste.

Self-esteem — Because implants are so much like your natural teeth, you will think about them less. Your self-esteem and confidence will be improved because you will not have to worry about denture problems or people noticing that you have missing teeth. Regular dentures also can affect your speech, which can make you less self-confident when talking with others.

Maria, the best price on implants you will get from a dentist or a specialist on the LocalDentist4Less network. Be sure to put your Oregon address when you search.

Anybody know where to get dental implants in oregon with a low price or pay in payments? please let me know:]?
Don't live in Oregon, sorry. But, my experience with those in Texas... Low price does not exist, and payments are up to the individual practice.

I would be wary of a low price for an implant, anyway. Too much expertise is necessary with this procedure. Don't cheap out when it comes to this surgery.

Does anyone know anything about dental implants, are they worth the money ?

An implant is an anchor for a prosthetic tooth or teeth (e.g., crown, bridge, denture) that is surgically placed in the jaw. It becomes fused with the jawbone as the bone heals around it. Implants are most commonly made of titanium, a special type of metal that bone fuses to and does not reject as a foreign body.

Implants are used to replace missing or lost teeth. A missing tooth can affect the jaw and lead to bone loss. It may also affect surrounding teeth by causing them to shift and affect a person’s bite. People with missing teeth may also have difficulty chewing or be dissatisfied with their appearance. Bridges and dentures are also used to take the place of missing teeth.

There's lots more information on dental implants below, including pictures!

Can you get braces and dental implants at the same visit to the dentist.?
In short, NO! Braces and implants both are lenghty processes. With implants they must place a stent first for a few months, then the post will be imbedded in your bone. it will then be left for a few months for the bone to grow around the endosteal implant. Same as with braces, it is a lenghty process usually minimum 2 years with many adjustments. Hope this helps
Reply:i am not sure. i have never had braces!!
Reply:No. An orthodontist will be needed to put on the braces; an oral surgeon will do the implants. It is possible to get implants while wearing braces, though, after you're teeth have shifted to basically where they need to be. You're orthodontist and oral surgeon will work together to decide you're plan of action, depending on your situation.
Reply:It all depends on how much time you have for your appointment and when it is scheduled!

Good Luck!
Reply:you can't get 2 things in one sitting baby..that 2 procedure/treatment takes case studying/analysis first of what procedure may needed an immediate treatment..ask your dentist to discuss your case with you so that you may scheduled it on your applicable time..maybe you're too busy that's why..but don't give your dentist a pressuring time so that she/he can give you a more planned and good post treatment..:) good luck!
Reply:I would say no. The implants would have to go on first and then they would wait to see how they feel and then braces would go on at a later appt.. Both of which take quite some time to finish.

Does anyone know anything about dental implants do you have to get them as soon as your teeth are pulled?

I do not think so, but they are VERY EXPENSIVE..

Does anyone know anything about dental implants do you have to get them as soon as your teeth are pulled?
you dont have to get them as soon as the teeth are removed, however there are new techniques that allow them to be placed immediately after extractions, personally i think this may be a good idea as the jaw will then heal around the implant, other wise your looking at drilling into the jaw bone at a later date. ask your dentist about this of if they cant help ask to be refered to specialist implantologist!
Reply:As a dentist who has restroed many implants, I think it is best to place them some time after the teeth are extracted. This can be an inconvenience for the patient but a temporary prosthesis can be made to fiil the space(s). The bone has to heal around the implant no matter when oit is placed, but a prepared site(as opposed to a freshly created extraction site) is prepared to the ideal depth and diameter and therefore does not require the placement of a bone graft.
Reply:I like ponyboy's answer. I'm just putting in my 2¢ of support and agreement.
Reply:you best get them before then get them put in once healed
Reply:The short answer is no. Celtic gives good info. An oral surgeon can also place the implant.

Is it painful to get dental implants?

Is it painful to get dental implants?
Any surgery hurts for a while until you heal. Just give yourself a reasonable time to recover after you get your implants.
Reply:hell yeah, sounds painful
Reply:DON'T KNOW, BUT IT'S PROBABLY PAINFUL AS HELL. LIKE TOOTH PAIN. I THINK I WOULD HAVE TO JUST GET FALSE TEETH INSTEAD OF IMPLANTS!
Reply:I wish I had the money. Then I could eat apples again.
Reply:Prosthetic Dental Implant Procedure

The prosthetic dental implant procedure process may take from three to nine months because of the time needed

for your bone to heal around the dental implant body.

--------------------------------------...

First procedure: under anesthesia an artificial root (implant body) is placed into the jaw bone. Healing time is up to six months (some systems have immediate loading).

Second procedure: at the time of uncovery, a healing cap (abutment) is placed on to the prosthetic dental implant (some systems are different and there is no need for healing abutments).

Third procedure: when the bone is completely healed to the dental implant, proper fixtures will be placed on to the prosthetic dental implant. At that point the implant will be loaded with either a screw retained crown or a cemented crown.

--------------------------------------...
Reply:Depends on how many you get and what your pain threshold is. Some people freak out over nothing and some are like meh not sooo bad. In my experiance with being a dental assistant to a doctor who does implants, most patients have little to no pain. So have some discomfort but nothing that can't be helped with a mild pain reliever. But it just all depends on how you heal and everyone is different.
Reply:I can tell you from personal experience that it does not hurt, or at least it did not hurt me. I had to get a crown put in because I lost a tooth. Here is a rundown of the procedure:

1. remove the rest of the damaged tooth.

2. drill a titanium rod into your gums where the old tooth was

3. Let the area heal and for the tissue around it

4. screw implant onto the titanium rod

None of this hurt because I was put under when the tooth was removed and the titanium rod was drilled in

Who's better in performing dental implants, prosthodontist or regular dentist?

Apparently, a regular dentist charges much less in consultation ($50 vs $150). Does that mean inferior expertise and service?

Who's better in performing dental implants, prosthodontist or regular dentist?
i'm gonna say the prosthodontist just because they go to more school. however, a surgically oriented general dentist like myself might be better than the prosthodontist. i think most prosthodontists refer to periodontists for the implant placement anyway. the prosthedontist usually just restores them.

also keep this in mind. general dentists drill ALL DAY. i mean i drill on people's teeth for hours on end every single day. the most important part of drilling is proper orientation of the drill. since placing implants is pretty much just drilling a perfectly designed hole into jaw bone, i find myself highly qualified.

as for the consultation....prosthodontists don't see as many patients a day so they have to charge more. this also keeps out the riff raff that might not be serious about treatment. general dentists are forced to specialize in riff raff.
Reply:I will tell you from both sides of the coin. As a dentist with implants. LIKE all surgery the success rate is almost always totally correlated to the number of procedures the doc has done.
Reply:I am going to have to vouch for an oral surgeon. My father is an oral surgeon and places excellent implants. He had a 6 year residency (after 4 years of dental school) and is therefore more qualified than a general practitioner to place implants.

I recommend going to someone specialized for cases such as these.

Just because someone charges less doesnt mean they are inferior however in this case I dont feel a general dentist is as qualified.

Does anyone out there have dental implants?

I'll be getting them sometime in the near future so:

1) do they sedate you? is it like a surgery?

2) do they hurt? how long will I be sore?

any info like the above would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Does anyone out there have dental implants?
Hello, I have 2 dental implants.

I was not put out to have them done, just numbed up, they did not really hurt to have them put in, just intense pressure.

I will tell you this is a very long, drawn out process; first the implants (the screws) are put into your jawbone. Then they have to remain for 4-6 months so they bond with the jawbone before you can go on to the next step. Your dentist will put metal healing caps (attached to the screws) while you wait. The next step after about 6 months, the healing caps are removed, abuttments are attached to the screws where the healing caps are and impressions are made so you can have the crowns made that attach to the abuttments. If the crowns have to be sent out to a dental lab to be made, expect a wait of 4-6 weeks before they are done. Some dentists now use a cerac machine that makes the crowns in the office, but most don't. After the crowns are made, they have to be adjusted and glued to the abuttments.

I had problems with my gum tissue healing evenly, so I had to wait longer before the abuttments could be put on. I started on the implants in early April 2006, and just finished having the crowns applied Nov. 16. I am very pleased with them, they look and feel very natural. Be prepared to pay around 3000.00 to 3500.00 for each implant from start to finish, including the crowns. Good luck!
Reply:Dental implants are a wonderful way to replace teeth that are missing. Some oral surgeons will put you to sleep while placing them but honestly, the procedure is very minor and being awake but numb is generally a great way to proceed with this treatment. You can expect soreness for a couple of days but they usually give you some type of pain meds and mouth rinse for comfort. Just follow your DDS' instructions and you should get along fine. Good luck and congratulations.
Reply:I do its like getting a body piercing, but the insurance company paid for it.
Reply:Many people.

1)depends. It can be done under local anaesthesia or even conscious sedation.

2)minimally.
Reply:In the process of getting them now.

1. Sedation is not necessary unless you are very sqeamish and usually require sedation for minor surgery.

2. It IS surgery. They are placing metal INTO a facial bone.

3. Pain typically does not last or is not that intense UNLESS you get an infection. This is important since an infection can cause the implant to fail. - I am currently on my second bone graft since an infection destroyed the first one. The infection caused intense pain that required major narcotics just to deal with.

4. The implants don't hurt. The initial surgery may leave you sore for up to a week and that is probably the worst you will experience.

Now all that being said, not all dentists/oral surgeons are the same. Find out all you can. What materials do they use? A major factor in implant failure is lack of good osseointegration. Do your homework and find out what that is and what approaches are available to prevent that type of failure. I can tell you from personal experience that a failure can mean more extensive (and expensive) surgery.
Reply:I know people who had implants, but the jaw bone rejeted the metal attacked to the bone. The implants had to come out and they were left with a hole in their pocket and in the mouth. One was my pharmacist another a cousin. Discuss these types of situations with your dentist. These affects are not advertised too much. I am sure many others had great success with them.

Is 60 to old for dental implants? It's that or dentures which I really don't want!?

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and have 11 implants myself. Over the past 15 years I have patients that have had dental implants at 70 plus and love them. I recommend them for just about everyone as long as no active periodontal disease is present. With the new "short fatties" we can even place successful implants in jaws that have had some bone loss and they are very successful. Dentures are the last option as they almost never fit properly and must be removed to clean. The tend to look like a "denture" because they are. Most implant surgery can be done in one visit, then wear a temperary denture for a few months until the implants heal and the fixed crowns can be made and placed. I recommend that all patients follow a serious healthy diet, so NOT smoke and most of all take a good vitamin supplement to promote healing and bone regeneration. C, Zinc and calcium are a plus. Eat healthy and drink lots of good water eat day. Limit alcohol and sugar and you should end up with a great smile. Good luck. M

Is 60 to old for dental implants? It's that or dentures which I really don't want!?
It's not so much dependent on age as it is bone loss. Only a dentist can decide if you would be a good candidate for implants. I would say go for it and see what happens.
Reply:You can have dental implants done well into your 80's.

Lots better for your health than loose dentures.
Reply:Dentures are useless. I got 12 teeth implanted and far above 60 and I am enjoying my meals. So if you take my example, can go ahead with it.
Reply:It depends on your general health and your willingness to maintain the final treatment. Even with bone loss, you can still get dental implants. A bone graft would be needed prior to implant placement.

My father was 70 when he got implants. He is 83 and the implants are doing fine.

Where can I get free dental implants?

It all depends on where you live. Most clinics do not do dental implants. You might be able to have them done if you go to a dental school where you will have students do the work under the supervision of a professor. The drawback is that it often takes a long time to get the work completed. But it is something to look into.

Where can I get free dental implants?
No where, dental implants are expensive, I think $1,500 each, do judge the price, judge the dentist
Reply:Free probably no where, but you might be able to find a dental school/oral surgery school that needs patients for dental implants so you could get them cheaper.
Reply:Sorry, implants are not considered a medical necessity. There are a lot of people with missing teeth. (front teeth and back teeth) They either leave it alone, or (if they can't afford implants) they get a bridge. Even those are expensive. Depending on what needs to be done with the bridge they can be around $500-900.

Now, I have heard about dentists/oral surgeons who are all over the US and they are fixing teeth for free IF you were abuse by your spouse. One woman's husband had kicked her in the mouth and knocked most of her teeth out. She got implants, veneers, etc. for free.

Does somebody have expiriance with dental implants for dentures?

I wanna know if it's hurt a lot and how much does it cost.....thanks

Does somebody have expiriance with dental implants for dentures?
It's spendy. About $1,500 per implant depending on where you live. The surgery consists of opening a small area of gum and placing a titanium implant. A bone graft may or may not be needed. The area heals for up to 6 months (this varies depending on each patient's experience) with a healing abutment. One the area has healed the healing abutment is removed and fitted with the actual implant with will snap together with the denture. I've known people who said it was a miserable experience and I also know alot of people who said it was very easy. One thing everyone has said, "I can finally eat!"
Reply:Dental implants are a proven dental procedure and thousands of implants are in use now. The procedure is done under local anesthesia and does not hurt.

What is your experience with dental implants. Cost, pain, time in the chair, etc.?

Is it worth it? Are there certain requirements to get them? Thanks in advance.

What is your experience with dental implants. Cost, pain, time in the chair, etc.?
They are great, but can be pricey and time consuming. Health problems such as smoking or diabetes can make you not a candidate. In general $1500-2000 an implant. Not much pain from what I have heard. They do have to implant it, wait a few week, uncover the screw, wait a few, and then place the crown on the screw. However, the cost can run close to a bridge to replace teeth also. Well worth the money as long as you keep it up. Must keep up with dental cleanings and checks to prevent failure.
Reply:Dental implant surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
