Does dental implants..have negative effect on our health?

i was planning to have a dental implant... ive lost it.. so my lat resort a dental implant.. but am afraid( or just anxious) to what this thing may result..maybe... does the metal inserted will rust...is it a metal that is..can stick into a magnet... i am visualising if a powerful magnet machine wil sudenly pull youtowards, can it be detected in for example in airport metal detectors...?

I have one dental implant and it's been in for around 2 years now and I've had no problems with it. I travel by air a lot and haven't once set off a metal detector.





The metal used is clinical grade titanium and doesn't rust and has no imperfections so it's perfectly safe.





They are expensive though. I paid £2100 for the one I had - so I guess that'd be about $3500.





But the results are amazing, and if you go to a reputable surgeon it should be relatively quick and you wont really suffer much afterwards.





My surgery took around 45 mins and was done under local anaesthetic. Taking Ibuprofen staved off the pain after the anaesthetic wore off. A week later the stiches were out. Had the crown attached a couple of months later and I've had no problems whatsoever with it. If you can afford it, I totally recommend it.

If the case selection is good and a good doc is treating you, it is one of the safest and most sucessful way to get a missing tooth restored.


Dont worry, ask all the questions you have in mind to yourdoc and go aheadwith the implants.

Reply:No you will not stick to a magnet. They are made out of titanium so they won't rust in your mouth. They usually run about $2000 an implant.

Dental Impant is the most predictable by far, however. With success rates in the high 90's. Its the most sterile and controlled bit of hardware a dentist will ever put in your mouth. They are expensive, but with even moderate care they will last your whole life and then some.

Reply:dental impants are made of titanium..this material doesn't rust and it is not magnetic. it is the same metal they use in hip replacements and other surgeries. this metal is very biocompatable meaning it fits well into the human body without complications. it will look and feel just like a natural tooth once it's completely healed. it will not be detected in airport metal detectors...


the surgery itself is not painful, they will use an anesthetic and a seditive if you need one.


i am a dental hygienist and i have a great deal of knowledge in this subject.
