Dental implants?

Has anyone had these in their top jaw and if so, was the procedure very painful and have they been a success. I am thinking of having them and want to find out all the pros and cons.Thanks.

Dental implants?
Hi, my name is Paul and I'm a dentist in Dublin.I also specialise in implantology.

Feel free to email me and I will run throught the procedure in detail.

I dont feel that a denture is as attractive as implants , as implants are individual abuttments and therefore retain the appearance of natural teeth.

Implants aren't painful.Impllantation can be sore, as can crowning, veneering etc but when you assess the long term benefits to the minor discomfort you can see the value.

As a retired dental technician although I would not say do not have them fitted, if you have a set of dentures made correctly they should be as good as any transplant.
Reply:See my avatar! That is my new smile. Before getting dental implants I did a great deal of research. Sorry but I don't agree with the gentleman who said he is a retired dental whatever. Truth is that once the teeth are gone without the roots to keep the bone healthy jaw bones begin to deteriorate. But implants act as tooth roots do and keep the bone strong. Dentures look only like natural teeth but often many people have major problems with them. Usually the lowers are the most problem. There is no way for a lower denture to get suction they just sit there and often dislodge when one moves their mouth to smile, talk, chew etc. With dental implants this problem is solved. Unless you find an extremely skilled dental lab to make the teeth they often don't fit comfortably. My teeth feel as comfortable as my natural teeth did.

I have 8 implants on top and 6 on the bottom. I have a prosthesis. It is a whole piece bridge that attaches to the implants with screws. My smile is amazing, strong and easy to clean.

Pain wise if you already have your teeth removed then getting implants will just be sore. The most pain comes when you have your teeth removed because of the nerves. However, if you teeth are gone then you will have to have an exam to see how strong your bone is.

Feel free to write to me. Link below is similar to the kind I have.
