Dental implants?

I don't really know anything about them.I think on America's next top model they had a girl that Tyra Banks got her teeth done because they were jagged and messed up. I wanted to know about how they actually do an implant. How much it cost and is there any way of the tooth falling out. I would only want to do one tooth(the tooth next to my left front tooth).

thanks

Dental implants?
Dental implants are rather expensive. I myself have two, one one each side of my front teeth. I have implants because those two teeth actually never grew in so I had a hole and choice of either a bridge or implant.

So there is a long process to get an implant, you have to go in and they drill into the bone and implant a piece of metal and you go back and they do this three times. It takes months of time, about 6 if I remember correctly. You also do have to be done growing at the time or else most wont touch you.

Implants cost thousands of dollars, depending mostly on the surgeon and the guy who is making the tooth to go on the implant. They do not have the chance to really fall out but you do have to go back in like 10-15 years and have them check it out. Also the downside is that if your other teeth dont match exactly it does stick out a bit, my natural teeth are whiter than my implants and I notice but Im not replacing them for a while, too pricey.

Sorry for the novel, hope this helps.
Reply:I am not sure where you live, but you can look in the yellow pages or on-line for dentists offices in your area. Also, ask some people in your area if there are any dentists that handle the type of situation that you are looking to clear up.
Reply:America's top model probably only did porcelain veneers. An implant is expensive and not covered under most insurances but a permanent fix for a missing tooth. Basically they implant a post through you gum and screw it directly to the jaw bone where it becomes a permanent part of the jaw. Once set a tooth made specifically for your mouth will be permanently fixed to this post. Like real teeth you still need to apply proper dental care.
Reply:It seems drastic to be considering an implant for a good tooth, not to mention the significant costs and risks.

Why not talk to an orthodontist about braces of some type?

Also, some cases like yours can be improved with composite or porcelain veneers or crowns.
Reply:Implants are for missing teeth, veneers are for existing ones, the orto sugestion is the 1st choice. and yes, implants fail in nearly 30 %
