Anyone had dental implants?

I'm having plants done to my front two teeth as they were knocked out my a cricket ball (yes, it hurt like crazy). right now i have a bridge, but its very weak as its two fake tooths hanging on to the side ones, and it can come out anytime.

if anyone has had them done (or any dentists on here), does it hurt after surgery? can i eat normally? any side effects? i read from previous questions that the body can "reject" the implants and push them out, which is very painful, or that they just fall out, is this likely? and how long do they last?

Anyone had dental implants?
I've got 4, from various escapades of the drink related variety and had them for between 7 and 8 years and had no problems with them . . in fact they're probs better than me own nashers
Reply:Once They Remove Your Two Front Teeth The Pain Will Ease Of In The Bast While Playing Rugby I Got My Head Smashed On The Floor Causing My Tooth To Break In Half I Was In Pain For Quite A long Time Until The Dentist Removed By Tooth And Replaced It With A New One Which Was Fake But It Didn't Make And Difference.
Reply:my step dad had all his done he said it was the most painfull thing he has ever had done and that he thought he would never eat again . But they do look great once done .
Reply:I had the identical problem. I had implants installed. It is a long and painful process. First the dentist will remove the damaged teeth. Then the implants will be installed. This is only the part that is inserted into the bone not the teeth. Then the bone must be allowed to adhere to the implants, about six months. Then the teeth must be fitted to the implants. My first set of teeth where not made correctly and I looked like a beaver. They had to be removed and replaced with another set. This set is great. So plan for about a year of discomfort and about $6000.
