Dental implants?

Hi! Does anyone know how painful it is to get dental implants? Do they last forever? Do you know of dentists who may have good financing plans in the Chicago area? Thanks!

Dental implants?
Dental Implants can be a very long and complicated procedure but they are well worth it. The implants can actually help hold onto receding bone that occurs in the Jaw when teeth are removed. With Dentures, this recession continues, causing the wearer to have to relign constantly or suffer from ill fitting dentures. I have worked for an exclusive implant surgeon previously, and can tell you that it can be a little pricey but worth it in the end. I will provide some links to dental finance plans below in the sources area, that I have personally worked with and are specifically for this type of treatment. They can last a very very long time, but as with anything, it is up to the person as to how well they take care of them. The screws will last, but the crowns may have to be replaced after around 15-20 years, depending upon the quality. Which is still MUCH longer than the average for a crown on a "real" tooth. Implants are the best possible option available out there if you are a good candidate. The process can take around 6 months or longer, with bone grafting if it is needed. The best possible way is to have a consult done with a professional that specializes in Implants. These can actually be found at the American Dental Association website which is better than just a general recommendation. You will be able to research all local surgeons in your area, and get the background information on them as well. The website for this is http://www.ada.org/

For financing, try Capitol One. I have personally worked with them many times over the past years and they are remarkable. Good luck, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to email me. Thank you. :-)
Reply:Work with someone who has implants - he loves them and said no pain. Look very natural too.

Sorry, don't know about the Chicago area, but check your insurances web-site for dentist in your area.
Reply:Whatever you do Don't get implants. They are painful expensive and troublesome the implants hurt terribly and had to be pulled out in a matter of weeks but i still had to pay the full price. It seems to me that the only real purpose they serve if to enrich the dentist. DON"T DO IT !
Reply:Each implant case is unique and everyone has different threshold tolerance for pain. You must first determine if you are a candidate for implants which means that you may not have enough bone structure to support an implant. This would involve needing to have a bone grafting procedure, which in turn, increases the costs: see http://www.dentalclinicmanager.com/denta...

If you are a candidate, there are review the different types of implant procedures, success and failure rates here: http://www.dentalclinicmanager.com/low-c...

As for financing, the cheapest place to get implants would be through your local dental schools. Implants are considered an advanced graduate course and most of the residents have been practicing their craft and are looking a specialty license. Most schools also have a faculty practice clinic which is run with faculty dentists, as opposed to students. While the fees may be slightly higher than the dental schools, it is still lower than the actual private practice. Make certain that a prosthodontist is initially involved in the case. He will work with the implantolgist to ensure that everything goes smoothly with the procedure. I would consider the dental school source first in addition to using a financing company that handles dental care, such as capital one. I have worked with them in the past to secure very low interest or no interest loans for my dental patients.
