I had dental implants put in, and almost died of Sepsis. My dentist, that is no longer my dentist, put blade implants in my mouth, and they were not only put in crooked, they were not approved by the FDA, and they rusted into my jawbone. I ended up with Sepsis, which is a blood infection, and came within hours of dying. I've had 4 surgeries to try to correct the problem, but now found out I need more, because I'm losing bone. Bone pain, is excrutiating. Please try to go with a different option! If you decide you still want implants, then make sure you do some research, and find the right dentist to perform the surgery. There are some cases where pre-implant procedures may have to be accomplished first prior to implant placement.

It is nice to have 10 mm of bone to place an implant into, if you can get it, not paper thin bone. This can be remedied with proper planning. A surgical procedure called a "sinus lift" will lift the sinus lining and into the space created by the lift bone graft is placed. The sinus lining is left to rest on the mound of graft material. Over several months the graft will become vascularized and hard enough to be drilled into and an implant placed into it. During those healing months your dentist can make you a temporary (throw away) denture. It is usually made in advance of implant surgery and placed immediately upon completion of that surgery. The number of implants placed at one time is cost as well as dentist determined.

If necessary a denture will made to fill the gaps in the meantime.

Sometimes the best 'deal' is to have fewer implants placed and have a denture clipped into them.....it works amazingly well as the denture looks great, it never comes out (except to clean) and keeps the cost down.

It has more to do with the plan your company selected and not the insurance itself ( I'm sure the insurance company has plans that cover implants, but your company didn't subscribe to it) Do you have flex spending with your job?.
